Our last day on Cape Cod

Today Charlie and I spent some more time exploring the area, including Crosby Beach in Brewster.  It’s a very interesting place because the tide goes waaaay out.  You can see from the picture, which was actually taken after low tide, how far the sea recedes.  What a play ground for kids! and for adults wanting to gather some clams.  This beach is just stunning, private, quiet, and romantic.  HIGHLY recommend a stop here.

Driving in the area we noticed a very nice local custom to display large front-yard banners celebrating and congratulating by name the town’s graduating seniors.  What a nice public gesture!  I wish I’d thought of that for my own girls.

Our meanderings took us through Harwich – incorporated in 1694 – and to Hyannis.  Frankly, we couldn’t appreciate the draw of Hyannis.  There is a nice downtown with lots of shops and restaurants, but we missed it if there’s a public waterfront walkway or the like.  We drove through Chatham, another cute New England town, on our way back to Provincetown for the remainder of the afternoon.  After a couple of stops for fresh fudge and fresh oysters, we started back to Nickerson State Park and dinner at JT’s.  It was a nice day.

Tonight we plan to take it easy by the campfire as Charlie listens to baseball.  Go Nationals!!

  2. Your beach photos are stunning! I suspect they may inspire some more paintings by Charlie....

  3. Beautiful blue skies!! The statues by the library are kind of Seuss-ish. The photographer is doing a wonderful job. Keep up the good work! It will be fun to make a photo album online when you get home. Just think-so many more adventures ahead! Keep on trucking (that's a good traveling tune, in fact-Truckin, got my chips cashed in...). Hugs!
