Miracle on Ice

We remember watching the 1980 Olympic games on TV and witnessing the USA ice hockey team beat the Russian team for the gold metal.  What an awesome victory!  So it was fun touring the arena where the "Miracle on Ice" happened.

We also went to see the ski jump area, taking an elevator to the top of the highest jump.  O.M.G.!  No way you would ever get me to go down that steep hill, much less do a jump at the end.  Are you kidding?  Those athletes are brave souls.  (And there's a rumor that there are those who will occasionally take inner tubes down those !)  It was fun to see, as was the practice "pool" where the athletes practice their jumps, landing in a deep pool of water.

After our visit to the place of champions, we took a ride along Mirror Lake Drive.  Wow, beautiful houses with beautiful views.  Nice.  We finished up our visit to Lake Placid with sandwiches at the Crepier on Main Street -- delish.
