Charlie and I talked a lot about where to go on our 2016 road trip. For most of that time, we planned to navigate the shoreline of Florida, both the ocean and gulf coasts. Did it make sense to plan a Florida trip in the heat of summer? What's this zika virus that's causing such heartbreaking birth defects in Brazil? It has spread to Puerto Rico and now it's in Florida? And what the heck is this toxic algae bloom blanketing Florida beaches with its slimy and smelly mess? Guess we'll put off our exploration of the Florida coasts for another time!
So where do we want to go? This isn't the year for a really long trip. I know! Maine. We'll explore the towns of Maine's coast instead of those of Florida. That works!
